Multiplexing

What happens when there are too many I/O devices in a system? After all, there can only be so many pads on a chip due to physical size limitations. Multiplexing is a way of making a single port do double, or even triple, duty. There are two kinds of multiplexing: time division multiplexing and statistical multiplexing.
